When we tell our stories to another person, we create coherence and meaning for our experiences.  We place the smaller experiences into the larger context of our lives ... and we begin to make sense of it.  It is not the experiences themselves that really matter;  it is the meaning we derive from the experiences that determine our level of peacefulness. The safe, non-judgmental environment of the therapy room allows us to feel accepted and affirmed as whole and worthwhile human beings.
